A device (201) for in vitro modelling of in vivo organs and tissues, comprising: a first body part (207) having at least one access chamber (213), a second body part (205) having at least one culture chamber (221) ) and a culture membrane (206) separating said at least one access chamber (213) from said culture chamber (221). The device also includes a third body (203) having at least one actuation chamber (220) with at least one confinement cavity, and connecting the at least one culture chamber (221) with the at least one actuation chamber (220) ) separate actuating membranes (204). With the device according to the invention, it is possible to provide a robust actuation system that is independent of the mechanical properties of the actuation membrane material, and also not dependent on pressure, and allows to simulate three-dimensional deformations of tissue, in particular alveoli. |
