The catalyst is tetrabutyl titanate, tetraisopropyl titanate and tetrapropyl titanate; the character improver is polyethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, butanediol. The preparation method comprises the following steps: the method comprises the steps of carrying out vacuum polymerization on 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate, isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, ethylene glycol and a character improver under the action of a catalyst by a stage heating method to obtain polyester, modifying by utilizing carboxymethyl cellulose, adding deionized water and an antioxidant into a reaction product, drying and crushing to obtain the carboxyl hydroxyl modified polyester. The invention has good filtrate loss reduction performance, good salt resistance, high temperature resistance and shearing resistance, is beneficial to the stability and maintenance of the drilling fluid, and effectively avoids the occurrence of complex drilling accidents.
