abstract Methods, systems, and related aspects for solution-phase electrodeposition of artificial solid electrolyte interface (SEI) layers applied to battery electrodes. In certain aspects, such methods include: (a) providing the battery electrodes to a delivery device; (b) transferring the battery electrodes from the delivery device to an electrodeposition chamber containing a liquid solution, the liquid solution comprising a first solvent and an electrolyte; exposing the cell electrode to the liquid solution; and applying a voltage or current to the cell electrode for a predetermined amount of time relative to the counter electrode exposed to the liquid solution, thereby producing a coated cell electrode comprising the artificial SEI.
