The invention relates to a catalyst for preparing 1, 3-propylene glycol by hydrogenating 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde, which consists of nickel oxide, ruthenium oxide, cerium oxide and a carrier. When the catalyst is used in the process for preparing 1, 3-propylene glycol by two-stage hydrogenation of 3-hydroxypropanal, the conversion rate of the 3-hydroxypropanal is more than or equal to 99.9 percent, the whole process yield from acrolein to 1, 3-propylene glycol is more than or equal to 78 percent, the catalyst can hydrogenate part of oligomers in the 3-hydroxypropanal and convert the oligomers into the 1, 3-propylene glycol, so that the selectivity of the 1, 3-propylene glycol after two-stage hydrogenation is more than or equal to 100 percent, and the yield of the 1, 3-propylene glycol can be obviously improved under the acrolein hydration hydrogenation route. |
