abstract An apparatus for making glass, comprising: a shaped body configured to form a glass ribbon; and a glass scoring device positioned below the shaped body. The glass scoring apparatus includes a frame, a beam assembly, and a movable scoring unit coupled thereto. At least four drive assemblies are mounted on the frame, each drive assembly including: a threaded shaft; a drive motor connected to the threaded shaft and configured to rotate the threaded shaft; and a ball nut in threaded engagement with the threaded shaft and coupled to the beam assembly assembly, so that rotating the threaded shaft by the drive motor causes the beam assembly to rise or fall vertically. Multiple scoring assemblies are provided to enable bidirectional scoring of the glass ribbon.
