titleOfInvention | Application of DMSO in the preparation of medicines for alleviating ionizing radiation-induced damage to male reproductive system |
abstract | The invention provides the application of DMSO in the preparation of a medicine for alleviating ionizing radiation-induced damage to the male reproductive system. By constructing a mouse radiation testicular injury model, the present invention finds that DMSO can significantly increase the sperm count of mice irradiated with 5Gy, reduce the sperm deformity rate, and promote the recovery of reproductive ability of male mice after irradiation. Mechanistically, DMSO reduces the level of oxidative stress in spermatogenic cells after irradiation, inhibits the apoptosis of spermatogenic cells, and promotes the proliferation of spermatogenic cells. Further, DMSO can also alleviate spermatogonial stem cells and spermatogonia by reducing cellular DNA damage. Radiation damage to cells, promoting rapid recovery of spermatogenesis after irradiation. DMSO is expected to be a very promising radioprotectant for radiation-induced damage to the male reproductive system. |
