titleOfInvention | Ingestible device with delivery member disengagement |
abstract | An ingestible device is disclosed that is adapted to be swallowed into a lumen of a patient's gastrointestinal tract, the lumen having a lumen wall. The ingestible device (100, 200) comprises: a capsule (110, 120); a delivery member (130) shaped to penetrate tissue of a lumen wall and having a tissue penetrating end and a trailing end, the A delivery member (130) includes a therapeutic payload; an indenter (150) attached at the trailing end relative to the delivery member (130); and an actuator (140) coupled to the said ram (150) and having a first configuration and a second configuration, said delivery member (130) being held in said ram (150) by said ram (150) when said actuator (140) is in said first configuration within the capsule (110, 120), wherein the delivery member (130) is configured to be advanced from and into the capsule (110, 120) by movement of an actuator (140) from a first configuration to a second configuration In the lumen wall, the delivery member (130) is caused to move along a predefined trajectory. The ram (150) is configured to tilt relative to the predefined trajectory to disengage the delivery member (130) from the ram (150) when the actuator (140) is moved into the second configuration At least in part, the disengaged portion of the delivery member (130) is retained within the lumen wall to release the therapeutic payload. |
