abstract The invention provides a visible light bismuth tungstate-sulfite system photocatalytic oxidation method without a free radical mechanism, which comprises the following steps: s1: putting the prepared bismuth tungstate into water to obtain a bismuth tungstate suspension, and adjusting the pH of the ferrihydrite suspension to be not less than 7 by using acid or alkali to obtain a bismuth tungstate solution; s2: sequentially adding sulfite and As (III) solution with the same pH value as the bismuth tungstate solution obtained in the step S1, uniformly mixing, oscillating, and starting a light source; starting timing after turning on the light source, and periodically measuring the content of As (III) in the solution. The invention creates the photocatalytic oxidation method of the visible light bismuth tungstate-sulfite system with the non-free radical mechanism, the visible light bismuth tungstate-sulfite system is used in the oxidation process of arsenic-containing wastewater, the As (III) oxidation with the non-free radical mechanism is realized, and the As (III) is rapidly oxidized, so that the method is expected to be applied to the industrial wastewater treatment.
