Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems, devices and methods for inducing physical effects in tissues such as dermis, fat, musculoskeletal, vascular, hepatic tissues using unfocused or planar, non-cavitating acoustic shocks. The physical effect comprises disruption of the fibrous extracellular matrix of the target tissue. Embodiments of the present disclosure include applying a plurality of rapid acoustic pulses (e.g., shock waves) to cause disintegration of the fiber extracellular matrix to reduce orange peel tissue or scar appearance in the treatment area. Such unfocused or planar, non-cavitated acoustic shocks induce tissue reactions such as reduction of fibroplasia, induction of angiogenesis or lymphangiogenesis. |
