A computer-implemented method of training a neural network to improve protein properties, comprising collecting a set of amino acid sequences from a database, compiling each amino acid sequence into a three-dimensional crystal structure of a folded protein, training the neural network with a subset of the three-dimensional crystal structure, The neural network is used to identify candidate residues to be mutated in the target protein, and the neural network is used to identify predicted amino acid residues to replace the candidate residues to generate a mutant protein, wherein the mutant protein exhibits a higher improvement in the properties of the target protein. Systems for improving protein properties are also described. A modified blue fluorescent protein produced using this system is also described. |
