titleOfInvention Directional Balloon Transseptal Insertion Device for Medical Procedures
abstract The present invention relates to a transseptal insertion device comprising: a sheath defining a lumen and having a distal end closest to the atrial septum of a patient; at least one balloon connected to the distal end of the sheath, wherein the the at least one balloon cantilevered and extends beyond the distal end of the sheath when inflated, preventing accidental puncture of the atrial septum and stabilizing the transseptal insertion device against the fossa ovalis of the atrial septum; and a dilator located in the atrial septum intraluminal. The dilator has a distal end and is capable of precisely puncturing the heart's atrial septum without the use of needles or other sharp instruments. The at least one balloon is connected to at least one hypotube, the at least one balloon being inflated or deflated by gas or fluid flowing through the at least one hypotube.
