abstract |
A method for treating a microorganism-related condition in a patient can include detecting microorganisms in a set of samples taken from a population, and comparing the relative abundance and co-occurrence of different microbial taxa in the set of samples. The method also includes correlating changes in the relative abundance or co-occurrence of microbial taxa with samples from individuals in the population with the microbial-associated condition and samples from individuals in the population without the microbial-associated condition, to Identify target taxa. A cocktail of bacteriophages configured to remove target taxa from a community of microorganisms is then identified. A therapeutic composition comprising the mixture is then administered to a patient suffering from a microorganism-related condition. |
