abstract The invention discloses a method for preparing 4-aryl quinoline from 2-aminodiaryl methanol, which comprises the following steps of heating and converting the 2-aminodiaryl methanol in a mixed solution of formaldehyde and DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide) into a 4-aryl quinoline compound under the action of alkali in an oxygen-containing atmosphere; in the structure of the 4-aryl quinoline compound prepared by the method, a carbon atom at the 2-position is provided by DMSO, a carbon atom at the 3-position is provided by formaldehyde, and all other atoms in the structure of the quinoline compound are provided by raw material o-amino aryl methanol; the method for synthesizing the 4-arylquinoline has the advantages of wide and easily-obtained raw material source, environmental protection, low price and simple operation, and is beneficial to industrial production.
