abstract The invention discloses the use of 11β-HSD2 and its epigenetic markers as early markers of articular cartilage dysplasia and osteoarthritis susceptibility. The results showed that compared with the normal control group, the histone acetylation and expression level of the 11β-HSD2 promoter region in the umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells or the whole umbilical cord of neonates with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) decreased; Mesenchymal stem cells have lower chondrogenic differentiation capacity, and are more likely to exhibit chondrocyte degeneration similar to osteoarthritis under the action of high concentrations of glucocorticoids. Therefore, by detecting the expression and epigenetic level of the umbilical cord 11β-HSD2 gene, the subjects' chondrodysplasia and the risk of developing osteoarthritis in adulthood were determined. It provides a research basis for the early warning technology of articular chondrodysplasia and fetal-derived adult osteoarthritis, and also provides a new idea for the comprehensive prevention and treatment of fetal-derived adult osteoarthritis.
