abstract |
Methods and apparatus are provided for: supporting a source glass sheet having a thickness of 0.3 millimeters (mm) or less; scribing the glass sheet at an initiation line using a mechanical scribing device; starting the application of carbon monoxide (CO) to the glass sheet at the initiation line and continuously moving the laser beam relative to the glass sheet along the cut line to elevate the temperature of the glass sheet to provide sufficient stress at the cut line to cut the glass sheet; and to separate the waste glass from the glass sheet to obtain the desired shape. |
