Some embodiments of the present disclosure include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for use in a wireless network that operates eMTC (enhanced machine type communication) User Equipment (UE) and/or NB-IoT UEs when connected to a 5G core network (5 GCN). For example, some embodiments relate to a User Equipment (UE). The UE includes processor circuitry and radio front-end circuitry. The processor circuit may be configured to use the radio front end circuit and receive an indication from a non-access stratum (NAS) of a cell to use a 5G core network (5GCN) for the cell. The processor circuit may be further configured to transmit a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection request using the radio front end in response to the indication to use the 5 GCN. |
