abstract |
The subject of the present invention is a process for the preparation of diols, characterized in that the process comprises the steps of: (1-i) addition of alkylene oxide and carbon dioxide to H-functional starter substances in the presence of a catalyst to obtain polyethers Carbonate polyol and cyclic carbonate, (1-ii) isolating the cyclic carbonate from the resulting reaction mixture obtained from step (1-i), (1-iii) isolating the cyclic carbonate from step (1-ii) Hydrolytic cleavage of the cyclic carbonate to carbon dioxide and diol, (1-iv) optionally purifying the diol from step (1-iii) by distillation, wherein (n) will exclude Lewis acids of carboxylic acids with pKa>3.0 or Bronsted acid and optionally water are added to the cyclic carbonate and/or diol from step (1-ii), and the resulting reaction mixture is optionally neutralized. |
