This paper describes the preparation of monodisperse TiO nanocrystals with nanocrystal sizes between 1 nm and 30 nm. These TiO2 nanocrystals are used to prepare dispersions in solvents, formulate formulations of monomers, oligomers and polymers, and nanocomposites made from the resulting formulations. Dispersions of nanocrystals can be formed in a variety of solvents with high loading, high transmittance, and low viscosity. Formulations incorporating these nanocrystals and matrix materials are highly stable, wherein the resulting nanocomposites have high refractive indices and are optically transparent at visible wavelengths with little or no scattering. |
