abstract |
The present application relates to copolymers of N-Halamine (HA) and Dopamine (DMA) and methods of forming the same. The HA and DMA are present in the copolymer in a ratio of 0.4:9.6 to 9.6:0.4(HA: DMA). The copolymers are useful in novel antimicrobial compositions that can be coated and covalently bonded to a surface, such as a metal, plastic, glass, or coating surface. The coating provides a halogen treated rechargeable antimicrobial surface. The coating thickness and halogen content can be adjusted by adjusting the formulation and crosslinking the coating. |
