A temperature measurement device includes a proximity sensor configured to determine that the device is within a predetermined range of angular alignment relative to a measurement site of a patient, the measurement site including a sensor located at a patient's medial canthal region, forehead, or temple. a skin surface; an infrared temperature sensor configured to determine a temperature at a location of the measurement site without contacting the patient, wherein the temperature at the location is determined in response to the proximity sensor determining that the device is within a predetermined angular alignment; and the proximity a controller in communication with the sensor and an infrared temperature sensor, the controller programmed to determine a core temperature of the patient based on the temperature at the location; and a display in communication with the controller, wherein the display is configured to display a visual image of the patient , a non-patient indication is shown in the image, the indication indicating that the device is within a predetermined range of angular alignment. |
