A stable, non-irritating retinoic acid-containing formulation is disclosed for topical application to the skin to regulate skin exfoliation without inflammatory responses that delay skin healing. The topical formulations have concentrations of ingredients including retinol, a retinol activation system with surfactants and solvents, anti-inflammatory agents that are used in skin care treatments (eg, chemical peels, exfoliations, skin remodeling) Formulated to exfoliate the skin without the associated inflammatory effects (eg, irritation, redness, dryness, exudation, swelling, tenderness of the skin) that delay skin healing. Methods of formulating, making and using the formulations disclosed herein are also provided. |
