A defibrillator. The defibrillator is used to analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) data to identify whether it is beneficial for a caregiver to apply a shock to the heart in an effort to return the heart to a normal pattern and resume a sustained strong beat. By continually checking conditions pre-validated with a comprehensive patient database as having a high predictive value (eg, with a low false positive rate), it is possible to rapidly (eg, in less than 6 seconds, in less than 3 seconds, possibly Shockable rhythms are identified without having to analyze ECG data over time periods longer than would otherwise be required using traditional methods. |
