abstract The invention belongs to the technical field of organic synthesis chemistry, and in particular relates to a method for synthesizing isocoumarin derivatives by silver catalysis and application thereof. The method comprises the following steps: using 2-(phenylethynyl)benzaldehyde as a model substrate, using a monovalent silver salt as a catalyst, and performing a reaction at a temperature not lower than 30° C. to generate isocoumarin derivatives. This is the first time in the art that isocoumarin derivatives are prepared by the catalytic action of monovalent silver salts using 2-(phenylethynyl)benzaldehyde as a model substrate. The method is simple and efficient, and the used raw materials are simple, readily available and non-toxic, with few steps, mild conditions and low cost, and is suitable for large-scale industrial production.
