abstract | A method of producing prenol, comprising mixing and injecting a formaldehyde source and isobutene through a plurality of nozzles operating in parallel into a reactor and reacting the formaldehyde source and isobutene under supercritical conditions; wherein the reactor comprises a vertically placed container, side walls, upper part and lower part; and wherein the formaldehyde source and isobutylene are injected into the reactor mixing chamber provided in the upper part and the fluid containing formaldehyde and/or isobutylene and/or prenol is sent from the mixing chamber into the setting in the lower post-reaction chamber; and in the mixing chamber are provided substantially concentrically arranged draft tubes below each nozzle, wherein the draft tubes provide downcomers inside the draft tubes and outside the draft tubes The chimney so that the formaldehyde source and isobutene injected through the nozzles travel generally downwards in the downcomer, and the fluid containing formaldehyde and/or isobutene and/or prenol moves in the chimney in a generally upward direction Diverted and backmixed the fluid with the injected formaldehyde source and isobutylene.
