abstract The invention discloses a distributed feedback laser for surface emission of an Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) light beam and a modulation method thereof, belonging to the field of semiconductor lasers, wherein a resonant cavity is an FP (Fabry-Perot) cavity, and the resonant mode is a standing wave form of FP oscillation; from supreme including in proper order down: the optical waveguide device comprises an N-type substrate, a lower waveguide layer, an active layer, an upper waveguide layer, an upper inner cladding layer and an upper cladding layer; the active layer is used for providing gain for the laser; under the action of the injected current of the laser, electrons and holes in the active layer are compounded to radiate photons to form an optical field; the upper waveguide layer and the lower waveguide layer are used for limiting an injection current and an optical field; a mode selection grating and a coupling structure are engraved in the upper inner cladding; the mode selection grating is used for realizing mode selection; the coupling structure is used for realizing the coupling from the waveguide mode to the target OAM mode and forming a vertically emergent OAM light beam; the upper cladding layer serves to confine the mode field of the transverse mode of the laser and to confine the injection region of the carriers. The invention can optically generate the OAM light beam in the laser cavity and realize the rapid modulation of the intensity of the OAM light beam.
