abstract |
Compositions comprising waxes of vegetable origin with a melting point of at least 70°C are used for cellulose-based waterproofing materials such as paper and cardboard. Suitable waxes include sugar cane wax and rice bran wax. Surfactants such as stearic acid can improve the adhesion of the composition to the base material. The resulting waterproof laminate can be recycled economically. Hot beverage cups made from laminates are waterproof and recyclable without first being separated into parts. Waterproof and recyclable coffee pods and straws are made of waterproof laminate. |
