The steps of making a typical defect test block of friction stir welding include: material selection and design for making a stirring head; preparation of the test block; setting welding process parameters and performing metallographic verification; obtaining a typical defect test block according to the verified process parameters. The typical defect test block produced by this method is beneficial to the verification of the nondestructive detection ability of the microscopic welding defects of the friction stir welded parts. The manufacturing method of typical defect test block of friction stir welding realizes the manufacture of test block with controllable defect type which can be used to verify the defect detection of friction stir welding.
