abstract |
The present invention relates to a control device for an internal combustion engine. The subject is to detach the ash content adhering to the collector from the collector in a low temperature region. The internal combustion engine includes an engine body, a trap provided in an exhaust passage of the engine body and trapping particulate matter in the exhaust gas, and a catalyst device provided in the exhaust passage upstream of the trap in the exhaust gas flow direction. A control device for controlling an internal combustion engine includes a carbon dioxide concentration control for reducing a carbon dioxide concentration in exhaust gas flowing into the trap when the temperature of the trap is equal to or higher than a predetermined first set temperature and lower than a second set temperature department. The first set temperature is set to be selected from a temperature range in which ash adhering to the trap can be detached from the trap when the trap is in an atmosphere with a lower carbon dioxide concentration than when it is in an exhaust atmosphere temperature. The second set temperature is set to prevent overheating of the catalyst device. |
