titleOfInvention Embolic device with improved neck coverage
abstract In various aspects, the present invention relates to an embolization device (700) for treating an aneurysm or other vascular lesion with improved filling and/or neck occlusion over conventional devices. As one example, the embolic device may comprise a structure that is wound into a helical shape. In some cases, a helically wound embolization device includes alternating narrow portions (702) and joined portions (704). As another example, the embolic device can be formed of a structure that is wound to form an infinite symbol shape or, in some cases, a plurality of infinite symbol shapes. In the case of having a plurality of infinite symbol shapes, the infinite symbol shapes may be arranged parallel or perpendicular to each other. In certain aspects, the embolic device may comprise two different embolic devices attached by an interconnecting element, such that the two devices are attached but have independent degrees of freedom of movement when placed within the vascular lesion.
