Use of ruthenium and osmium catalysts for metathesis of nitrile rubber |
abstract |
The present invention relates to the use of Ru and Os carbene complexes with hydroxamic acid (ester) functional groups for the metathesis degradation of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR). The present invention further relates to a process for the production of hydrogenated nitrile rubber by subjecting the nitrile rubber to metathetic degradation in the presence of said catalyst, and the degraded nitrile rubber obtained is subsequently subjected to hydrogenation, preferably virgin hydrogenation. |
