Gene recognition agents comprising divalent nucleobases are provided that bind to both strands of a nucleic acid, such as the distensible repeat sequences associated with distensible repeat disease. In one example, the dilated repeat disease is a polyQ disease, such as huntington's disease. Methods of using the agents are provided, including methods of binding nucleic acids, such as the distensible repeat sequences associated with distensible repeat disease, methods of identifying the presence of nucleic acids comprising a distensible repeat, and methods of treating distensible repeat disease. |
