Disclosed herein are adeno-associated virus (AAV) particles comprising surface-bound peptides that enhance cell transduction across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Also disclosed herein are modified AAV capsid proteins comprising insertion of polypeptides that enhance cell transduction across the BBB, and AAV particles comprising the modified AAV capsid proteins. Specific peptides are provided. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical formulations and methods of administering/delivering nucleic acids to cells of the brain and/or central nervous system. |
