The present invention provides populations that can be used to mobilize hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells in a donor, and that can be used to determine whether a sample of mobilized cells is suitable for release for ex vivo expansion and/or therapeutic use compositions and methods. According to the compositions and methods described herein, mobilized hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells can be extracted from a donor and administered to a patient for the treatment of a variety of stem cell disorders including, inter alia, hematopoietic diseases, metabolic disorders, cancer and autoimmune diseases. In certain embodiments, the compositions and methods described herein result in the mobilization of a population of CD34 dim cells that are immunosuppressive and capable of reducing the incidence of graft-versus-host disease. |
