A method for producing a hydrolyzed pectin polysaccharide isolate rich in rhamnogalacturonan-1, comprising: providing a pectin-rich substrate obtained from plant material without using an organic solvent, the pectin-rich substrate comprising at least 3% by weight of dry matter of pectin polysaccharides; enzymatic treatment of the pectin-rich substrate to partially hydrolyze the pectin polysaccharides, the enzymatic treatment comprising the use of a pectin lyase (EC 4.2.2.10) ), pectate lyase (EC 4.2.2.2), rhamnogalacturonan galacturonase (EC 3.2.1.173), endogalacturonase (EC 3.2.1.15), exogalacturonase (EC 3.2.1.15) One or more pectinases of galacturonidases (EC 3.2.1.67 and EC 3.2.1.82); ultrafiltration of partially hydrolyzed pectin polysaccharides using ultrafiltration membranes with molecular weight cut-offs in the range 5 to 100 kDa; and The ultrafiltration retentate is recovered. It also relates to a hydrolyzed pectin polysaccharide isolate obtained by the method, and a method for preparing a product selected from nutritional preparations, food products, dietary supplements, beverages or pharmaceutical products, the method comprising adding the above hydrolyzed pectin polysaccharide isolate. |
