abstract |
The present invention discloses improved fractionation efficiency of slurry hydrocracked products by settling unconverted pitch from the SHC reactor effluent prior to fractionation. The recycling of soft pitch to the SHC reactor results in improved reactor operation by avoiding the recycling of lighter products that take up reactor space by gasification in the reactor and the recycling of hard pitch that will not be converted. The settling step facilitated by mixing with solvent enables separation between soft and hard pitch that cannot be achieved in fractionation columns. |
