Alcohol resistant siliconized polycarbonate polyurethane and medical devices incorporating the same |
abstract |
The alcohol resistant siliconized polycarbonate polyurethane may include soft segments and hard segments. The soft segment can comprise a polycarbonate polyol and a polysiloxane, which can be present in an amount less than the polycarbonate polyol. The hard segment may include an isocyanate and a chain extender. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) devices may include one or more components formed at least in part from one or more formulations of the siliconized polycarbonate polyurethane catheter. The PICC device may tolerate alcohol lock and may be power injectable both before and after the alcohol lock event. |
