The present invention relates to a phenolic resin of the benzyl ether type with a reduced formaldehyde content, which comprises at least one formaldehyde scavenger in the form of a β-dicarbonyl compound and also an α-carbonyl-carboxyl compound, especially ethyl acetate uronic acids, adhesives based on these phenolic resins, and isocyanate compounds containing at least two isocyanate groups for use in the phenolic polyurethane cold box method (PUCB method) and/or the phenolic polyurethane no-bake method (PUNB method) ). The invention also relates to a moulding material mixture comprising said binder, and to a method for producing cores, moulds or risers. |
