Provided is an anticancer agent comprising a tumor targeting peptide having two cysteine residues or having been modified to have two cysteine residues, the two cysteine residues The presence of arsenic atoms between the groups allows cyclization of the tumor targeting peptide to produce an arsenic-containing anticancer agent. This allows for the selection of appropriate tumor targeting peptides for the treatment of a given cancer, whereby subsequent agents provide more targeted delivery of arsenic to the tumor microenvironment. |
