titleOfInvention Liquid crystal display element
abstract The invention provides a liquid crystal display element. The subject of the invention is: in the case of the VA mode, the magnitude of the pretilt angle is defined by press-fitting of a rubbing cloth at the time of rubbing of polyimide formed on a substrate, but displacement of the tilt angle is likely to occur by increasing the press-fitting amount. Further, when the fibers on the rubbing cloth surface are rubbed against the alignment film, the fibers are disturbed, which causes a problem of lowering the contrast. On the other hand, if rubbing treatment is not performed, the long axis direction of liquid crystal molecules is not fixed when the liquid crystal is shifted in the horizontal direction, and alignment defects occur, resulting in a problem of lowering of contrast. The present invention solves the problem by providing a liquid crystal display element having a liquid crystal layer disposed between a pair of substrates, wherein at least one of the pair of substrates is provided with an alignment film subjected to a rubbing treatment in which the pressing amount during rubbing is 0.01 to 0.99mm, and the alignment film contains a hindered amine compound.
