The invention belongs to the field of cancer treatment, and discloses a method for determining protein level in a biological sample of formalin-fixed tissue. In particular, the present invention provides methods for detecting and quantifying DLL1, DLL3, JAG1, JAG2, Notch1, Notch2, Notch3, Notch4, and/or DLL4 protein in a biological sample, such as a formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sample, using mass spectrometry. In addition, methods of treating cancer based on the level of DLL1, DLL3, JAG1, JAG2, Notch1, Notch2, Notch3, Notch4, and/or DLL4 protein in a biological sample are also provided. The methods of the invention can be used to make better treatment decisions for, for example, cancer treatment. |
