The present invention relates to coated effect pigments, wherein the coating comprises a binder suitable for powder coating. These coated effect pigments contain crystalline and amorphous moieties determined by C 13 NMR MAS relaxation measurements, the relaxation of the 13 C nuclei is fitted to a double exponential relaxation according to formula (II), and the crystallinity c is at 40 % and 85%, and the relaxation has a short average relaxation time T 1 S and a long average relaxation time T 1 I , and T 1 I is in the range from 65 to 130 s. The effect pigments coated according to the invention have at least one endothermic peak with a maximum in DSC at a feed rate of 5°C/min from the range of Tmax = 100°C to 150°C and from 15 J/g to 150°C Enthalpy ΔH associated with the peak in the range of 80 J/g, where the enthalpy is calculated relative to the amount of the binder. The binder is applied to the effect pigments by spontaneous precipitation. |
