Amphiphilic graft copolymers comprising a polypropylene backbone and mixed small molecule side chains based on organofunctional silanes (PP-g-XSiOA), where "X" is an organic group or organofunctional group, and "A" is a metal, inorganic oxide, inorganic hydroxide or any other inorganic material. X may be derived from a compound selected from the group consisting of epoxy, amino, acrylate, methacryloxy, and vinyl; and A selected from the group consisting of silicon (Si), aluminum (Al), iron (Fe), titanium (Ti), silver (Ag), zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), calcium (Ca), copper (Cu), tin (Sn), their oxides, their hydroxides, and mixtures thereof. These copolymers are suitable for forming medical devices and/or for use in medical devices as additives to base polymeric formulations to improve laser markability, antimicrobial properties, adhesive-free bond strength, coatability, and coloration. |
