Deformation-resistant wound treatment device and related methods of use |
abstract |
A wound treatment device is disclosed that may include a wound interface sealably secured to a skin surface surrounding a wound bed for enclosing the wound bed in a fluid-tight enclosure. A fluid may be in communication with the enclosed space for periodically varying the pressure p 0 within the enclosed space within a pressure range p min ≤ p 0 ≤ p max . When the pressure p 0 within the enclosed space is less than the ambient pressure pamb , the wound interface may be sufficiently resistant to deformation to expand at least a portion of the wound bed into the enclosed space. The wound treatment device may include a pad receivable within the enclosed space in communication with the inflated wound bed for absorbing exudate from the inflated wound bed. Related methods of use of the wound treatment device are also disclosed. |
