abstract The present invention relates to the field of films, and more particularly, to a water-retaining biodegradable film and a preparation method thereof. A first aspect of the present invention provides a water-retaining biodegradable film, in parts by weight, the preparation raw materials include 35-50 parts of polyolefin, 10-20 parts of starch, 5-10 parts of lubricant, 5-15 parts of inorganic filler; the lubricant includes organic acid and mercapto-terminated alkanoic acid. The water-retaining biodegradable film provided by the invention degrades rapidly, and can be degraded to grade 5 in about 3 months; the water-retaining effect is good, and the water content of soil at different depths can be maintained; it is beneficial to the growth of crops and has excellent yield increasing effect.
