The present invention discloses methods, devices, systems and kits that facilitate the collection and analysis of samples obtained from swabs. The present invention discloses a swab container configured to receive a swab containing a sample; a cartridge for containing one or more of the following: a swab container, a swab, an assay unit, a pipetting Tube ends, vessels, shipping units, and appliances; systems (which may include sample processing devices); kits; and methods for their use. The swab container may include: an access port; an assay chamber having an assay port; a conduit including an internal channel connecting the access port; and an internal channel providing fluid communication between the access port and the assay chamber. The inner channel may be configured to squeeze a portion of a swab placed in the conduit or to squeeze a portion of a swab through the conduit. |
