abstract |
A method and apparatus for producing a product having a forged structure. The method includes the steps of simultaneously applying heat and a compressive load to the application area of the cold spray deposited preform to transform the consolidated particle-containing structure into a forged structure, the compressive load being applied laterally to the application area. The application of a compressive load and heat to the application zone raises the temperature of the material of the preform in the application zone to between the recrystallization temperature and the melting point of the material. |
