abstract | The present invention provides a catalyst precursor for producing a catalyst with a high yield of methacrylic acid, a catalyst, and a method for producing methacrylic acid and methacrylic acid ester. The following catalyst precursor was used, which was a catalyst precursor containing a heteropoly acid salt, and had a peak P1 with a 2θ of 26.16°±0.06° in an X-ray diffractogram using a counter-cathode Cu-Kα ray, and a peak P1 located in the ratio peak. P1 is on the high-angle side and is a peak P2 of 26.44° or less. Moreover, the ratio (I1/I2) of the height I1 of the said peak P1 and the height I2 of the peak P2 was 0.05-0.92, and prepared the catalyst precursor. In addition, a catalyst was produced from the above-mentioned catalyst precursor, and methacrylic acid was produced from methacrolein using this catalyst. |
