The electrolyte includes an electrolyte main body and a silicon-containing diimidazole compound; a lithium ion battery includes a positive electrode sheet, a negative electrode sheet, a separator and the electrolyte; when the silicon-containing diimidazole compound is used as an electrolyte additive, it can be used in lithium ion batteries. At the same time, due to the structure of Si-N bond, this kind of additive can react with H 2 O/HF and inhibit LiPF 6 and H 2 O Reaction, reducing the HF content, improving the storage stability and thermal stability of the electrolyte, and improving the high temperature cycle performance of the battery. The present invention is used in the field of lithium ion batteries.
