abstract |
The present invention provides sulfated cellulose fibers having a cellulose I-type crystal structure. The chemically modified cellulose fibers have cellulose I-type crystals, and a part of the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose are substituted by substituents represented by formula (1). The average degree of polymerization is 350 or more (wherein, in formula (1), M represents a monovalent to trivalent cation). When the chemically modified cellulose fibers are produced, the cellulose fibers are treated with sulfamic acid while maintaining the shape of the cellulose fibers, so that the sulfonamide and the cellulose fine fibers, which are the constituent elements of the cellulose fibers, are reacted. |
