abstract The present invention relates to the cosmetic use of an extract of the peel of the plant rambutan in maintaining and/or increasing the moisturizing and/or barrier action of the skin and/or mucous membranes. The peel extract increases involucrin synthesis, hyaluronic acid content, ATP and synthesis of the taurine transporter TAUT. The present invention also relates to a cosmetic cosmetic care method comprising topical application of a rambutan peel extract. Finally, the present invention relates to the use of said peel extracts for the treatment and/or prevention of pathological conditions resulting from abnormally dry states of the skin and/or mucous membranes, in particular for dermatological use.
